Polar ice caps dumping 2.2 trillion pounds of water....

The polar ice caps are melting faster then expected, they are losing 2.2 trillion pounds of water every year to the ocean. If this rate continues you can expect to see the ocean rise by 12.6 inches in the year 2050.

  1. Lake Oroville, in northern California, holds an estimated 9 trillion pounds of water......so if the polar icecaps kept melting for the next 4 years at the same rate, that could fill a reservoir like Lake Oroville. Doesnt seem like that big a deal. Sounds like the author is hoping you will think 9 trillion pounds of water is way more than it really is......
